Korean student Yong and I met for our first Conversation Partner meeting at Starbucks. We talked about his educational plans, including his desire to sell cars internationally using his learned English skills. Yong has traveled extensively and we got to talk about his travels. We met for an hour and I showed him pictures from my travels in Mexico. I used this as an opportunity to talk about US culture by comparing it to Mexican culture. I made it clear that culture in the USA does include Mexican-American culture alongside the traditional southern culture here. He told me about Seoul, including the level of pollution that drifts over from China.
Yong has high proficiency in conversational English and a great personality. I look forward to our next Conversation Partner Meeting!
