Tatiana CO #1

Today I observed Ms. Ciappetta's speaking class. The students were paired up to create a class presentation. They spent all class working on their presentations. Ms. Ciappetta taught a cultural lesson in class. One student was trying to catch the attention of another student by snapping his fingers. Ms. Ciappetta stopped the class for a minute to address the action. She explained that in the United States we do not snap at others to catch their attention. The snapping resembles how we treat dogs. She showed the class some different ways of grabbing someones attention. It was interesting to see the teacher teach the students a quick cultural lesson. The students were doing independent work for most of the class time. I enjoyed watching them work together with their partners. They all had different methods on deciding how to make their presentations.
