Lesson(s) on teaching you learned:
Today, I observed Oliva's speaking class, which was a group 3 class. At the beginning, the teacher handed out some sheets of materials regarding a Muslim's holiday -- Ramadon, in order to help students have a better understanding of value. During the time, the teacher googled the meaning of the word "devoted" since a student asked what it meant. Value is going to be students' topic for their final presentation. After a few minutes discussion about the culture and value of Ramadon, the class went to the Art Museum at FSU to see graduates' art show so students would need to take a picture of the art that they liked and guessed the value behind it.
Overall, there are two takeaways from this observation. The first one is student centered is the best way to motivate students to use the language. Because in this class, either class discussion about value or going to museum, they all came to speaking and interaction. Secondly, the teacher being a role model is important in class since that could give students respect and more encouragement to study a foreign language. The teacher looked up the word in this class was a good example. It represented consistent learning even if you are a teacher.
